THE MATERIALS

Finding the right materials and manufacturers was important to us. Everything from the weight of the fabric to the colour of our hardware had to be just right.  A lot of time went into researching different companies, and testing a wide variety of samples. We found exactly what we were looking for, from people we were happy to work with.

Linen

The linen we use is Belgian. Made from flax that is grown, processed, spun and woven into fabric in Europe. It's then brought to North America in it's greige state (unbleached and undyed) to be dyed and finished at an eco-friendly facility that exceeds U.S. environmental regulations. We have chosen these linens for their high quality, and the comfort of knowing that no one is being toxically dumped on.

Leather

The leather we use for all our strap products is Latigo. A type of leather that is both chrome (mineral) tanned and vegetable tanned, which makes it the best of both worlds, it is then infused with waxes and oils. Latigo is a stiff leather that becomes softer the longer it's used, but maintains it's durability, water resistance and shape. It is traditionally used to fasten saddles on horses.
We have chosen a family run Canadian company that has built their reputation on four generations of leather tanning and supply distribution. Their commitment to quality and community made them the obvious choice.

As with all our products it is important to us that we leave behind as little waste as possible. We do our best to utilize all of each hide which means we don't shy away from using parts that have natural scuffs or marks. Of course if a section of the hide is weak or structurally unsound we work around that as we want you to have a strong and long lasting product. But we find beauty in each of these imperfections and find it only adds character to the natural aging of the leather over time.

Hardware

The Hardware. After what felt like an endless search, we found a manufacturer that is known for their quality, and their work with many high profile designer labels. We wanted our hardware to be simple and functional, with our company name engraved on the sides. Minimal branding being the goal.
